Hard disc drive manufacturer Seagate Technology is to invest £120 million in its Springtown plant in Londonderry.

The money will be used to fund new equipment, IT, infrastructure and research and development.

“This investment will allow our Springtown factory to remain at the forefront of technology,” explained Seagate spokesman John Spangler.

“The success of this factory since it started production in 1994 and the continued success we see for it in the future are evident of Northern Ireland’s capacity to compete in the global marketplace,” he added.
