Securexit grows to 30 employees one year after UKSE investment

A Stoke-on-Trent manufacturer of bespoke steel fire and security doors has grown from start-up to a business employing more than 30 people within a year of securing investment from UKSE.

Securexit, which operates from a 20,000 sq ft manufacturing facility on the Newstead Industrial Estate, secured six-figure equity investment and additional loan finance from UKSE in September 2025 to launch the business.

Production began just two months later, and the company is now on track to achieve £3m in turnover during its 2026 financial year.

The business manufactures bespoke steel fire and safety external doors for customers across the retail, industrial, education and healthcare sectors.

Over its first year, Securexit has invested in new manufacturing equipment while also expanding its commercial operation through the creation of a dedicated sales team. Further recruitment within the internal sales function is planned later this year.

Building manufacturing capability

Securexit is also preparing for the next stage of its development through investment in product testing and third-party certification.

The company is working towards certification against recognised security and fire-performance standards, including PAS 24, LPS 1175 and BS EN 1634-1. It is also working towards ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification, covering quality and environmental management respectively.

The additional certifications are intended to strengthen the company’s compliance credentials as it expands its customer base and product offering.

Founded by steel door industry veteran David Lycett, Securexit has set out a five-year growth plan targeting £10m in annual revenue through continued investment, product development and expansion.

Lycett said the company’s first year had been “transformational”, with UKSE’s investment helping Securexit accelerate its growth and expand its workforce.

“We’re incredibly proud to be manufacturing in Stoke-on-Trent. It’s an area that has gone through a lot of changes in recent years and Make UK’s National Manufacturing Day shines a spotlight on the importance of manufacturing to communities and the wider economy,” he said.

“As the company enters its second year, it remains focused on sustainable growth, generating employment opportunities for the region and delivering high-performance security products to customers across the UK.”

UKSE regional manager Steve Grice said the company had demonstrated its growth potential through its investment in people and its financial performance.

“From day one, Securexit had a clear vision for growth, and it’s been fantastic to see that vision translate into real results so quickly,” he said.

“UKSE is proud to support David and the team as they move into their next phase of development.”

UKSE, part of Tata Steel, has invested more than £115m in businesses since 1975 and says its funding has contributed to the creation of more than 83,000 jobs.

The organisation provides investment for business acquisitions, management buyouts, company expansions and equipment purchases, with Securexit representing a recent example of investment supporting the establishment and expansion of a new manufacturing operation in the UK.
