Shell drills more money into North Sea

Energy firm Shell has been granted consent will develop of a new oil and gas field after being granted permission by the UK Government.

The Fram field, located 135 miles east of Aberdeen, is expected to add a further two percent to the UK’s energy production.

The development plan, which will include a floating, production, storage and offloading vessel will be one of the biggest development plans for the past decade.

It will produce an average of 35,000 barrels of oil per day, with Shell stating that the new development will not only secure current jobs but generate a number of new positions over the next 20 years.
