Carbon cutting road transport companies are to be honoured at the LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards Gala Reception next week in London.

The awards celebrate best practice in vehicle manufacturing, fuel use and supply, fleet operations and the development of products and services that help to reduce greenhouse gases from vehicles.

The winners will be announced at the event, held in association with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Following a lengthy judging process, a total of 44 companies and organisations have made the awards shortlist – including BMW Group UK, Addison Lee, Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd, Energy Saving Trust and the RAC Foundation.

Speaking to The Manufacturer, director of Hardstaff Linda Fletcher, who has been nominated for an award said: “It is a testament to everyone involved that our dual fuel vehicle technologies, which significantly reduces CO2 and tailpipe emissions, and our work with major OEMs to bring this to market, has been recognised in this way.”

Shortlists for six categories have been announced: low carbon car/van manufacturer of the year, low carbon heavy duty vehicle manufacturer of the year, low carbon fuel initiative of the year, low carbon innovation by an SME, low carbon road transport initiative of the year and low carbon publication or report of the year.

There will be two further awards announced on the night; outstanding individual in promoting low carbon transport and outstanding achievement in low carbon transport.
