David Cameron will announce a new initiative on Monday that aims to create 100,000 registered Engineering Technicians by 2018.
Working through new and established apprentice schemes, the multi-million pound initiative wants to create 100,000 Engineering Technicians by giving them structured on-the-job experience built upon a recognised academic qualification, called the EngTech.
The scheme has been created by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Engineering and Technology and the Gatsby Foundation.
The announcement of the new apprenticeship initiative will take place at 10 Downing Street alongside a full-size replica of the Bloodhound Super Sonic Car, the British project attempting to break the world land speed record in 2015.
The 13m jet-and-rocket propelled car aims not only to beat the current land speed record of 763mph in 2014, but also to be the first land vehicle to exceed 1,000mph.
The formal announcement will take place Monday June 24.
