Smith & Nephew (S&N) is suing the former owners of Plus – the orthopaedics business it bought last year – after discovering “unacceptable sales practices” were being conducted at several of its subsidiaries.

S&N bought the firm for $899 million (£457 million) and now expects to suffer a $100 million loss in sales this year as a direct result of the ending of these practices.
