The Hampshire-based stair lift manufacturer is celebrating after becoming the first manufacturer to reach the finals of the National Business Awards.

Leading business experts from around the country judged the entrants, and Stannah was lauded as a ‘global British superbrand’. The company was praised for its growth and its contribution to British industry.

The award is presented to the company that demonstrates ‘exceptional financial returns, strong growth and innovation strategies and market prominence in its sector’.

Stannah received its fourth Queen’s Award for Enterprise earlier this year in recognition of its continued demonstration of innovative solutions to grow despite tough economic times.
The manufacturer produced its 500,000th stair lift after the presentation of the Queen’s award, and following this HRH the Prince of Wales visited the factory in Andover.

Patrick Stannah, joint managing director, said: “As an independent family-run business growing steadily at six per cent per year, we are testimony to the health of British manufacturing and to the global potential for British-owned and run businesses.”

The winner of the Private Business of the Year category will be announced on November 8 this year.

Stannah manufacturers stair lifts, passenger lifts, escalators and moving walkways, vertical platform lifts, goods and service lifts. The company is run by fourth generation joint chairmen Alan and Brian Stannah.
