Security company G4S Secure Solutions (G4S) has landed a three year contract with global steel manufacturer, Tata Steel to protect five UK sites.

From April G4S will provide a range of technology and manned guarding security services across Tata Steel’s Long Products business.

Sites to receive G4S services include; Scunthorpe (North Lincolnshire), Immingham Bulk Terminal (South Humberside), Dalzell (Lanarkshire), Clydebridge (Lanarkshire), and Skinningrove (North Yorkshire).

G4S will be responsible for managing visitor entry for all contractors and employees: for patrolling the sites; administering alcohol testing; enforcing site speed limits and other security related services.

Founded in India, Tata Steel manufactures and supplies steel to more than 50 countries and employs over 80,000 people.

Sarah Smith, Health, Safety and Environment Manager for Tata Steel’s Long Products business, said:

“Intruders threaten our business and put themselves and others at risk. As our new specialist on-site security services contractor, we are confident G4S will provide the necessary skills and expertise to ensure this cannot happen.”
