The Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers (STLE) is set to return with its Interactive Lubrication Training Experience in February 2027, following strong demand for the inaugural programme.
The two-and-a-half-day course will take place from 23-25 February at Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas, combining classroom-based learning with practical laboratory training.
Designed for people new to the lubrication industry as well as those looking to strengthen their existing knowledge, the programme covers the fundamentals of lubrication, lubricant formulation, application and lubricant selection.
The laboratory element will allow participants to put that knowledge into practice, with sessions focused on lubricant testing and analysis.
STLE said the combination of classroom instruction and practical experience is intended to help participants better understand how lubricants are selected, tested and analysed.
Practical skills
The programme reflects the importance of practical technical skills in lubrication engineering, where understanding how lubricants perform under different conditions is central to applications across manufacturing and engineering.
New for 2027, STLE will also introduce a dedicated networking event, giving attendees the opportunity to connect with other lubrication professionals, instructors and industry experts outside of the formal training sessions.
Rebecca Lintow, STLE Executive Director, said the programme provided a way for participants to learn through both theory and practical experience.
“STLE’s Interactive Lubrication Training Experience is a unique opportunity to learn the fundamentals of lubrication through hands-on experience in the lab as well as classroom instruction,” she said.
“After a sold-out first year, we’re excited to welcome lubrication professionals back to the world-class laboratory environment of Southwest Research Institute.”
Registration for the 2027 programme is now open, with the course aimed at supporting skills development among professionals working across tribology and lubrication engineering.
