SolidWorks Corporation has announced the winners of its second annual Student Design Contest.

The competition allows students from middle school up to graduate school level to enter their designs, created using the company’s software, to be judged in parallel with the SolidWorks World 2008 Design Contest.

The winner of this year’s contest was Matsuo Nezawa of the Tokyo Metropolitan Rokugou Technical High School, followed in second place by Lukasz Korenkiewicz of Bialystok Technical University.

“It’s important to recognise the work of students who are just starting out in their computer-aided design and engineering work,” explained Marie Planchard, director of worldwide education markets for SolidWorks Corporation. “Yet it’s evident from the work they submitted that their designs stand up to the best of the professional design contest.”
