Workers at the United Biscuits factory in Liverpool have reportedly begun a petition against the firm’s plans to move 170 jobs to India.
The workers are also set to stage a protest in Liverpool city centre tomorrow morning.
Debbie Brannan, a regional officer for the union Unite, said: “United Biscuits is owned by private equity firms Blackstone and PIA whose only motive is profit. It is the hard-working staff who have made this company profitable and they deserve to be treated a lot better than this.”
Tomorrow’s protest takes place at the Lyceum, in Bold Street, Liverpool, from 11.30am.
United Biscuits brands include McVitie’s, Jacob’s Cream Crackers, Hula Hoops and Jaffa Cakes.
