TASi Measurement: Automating processes and driving consistency with Epicor

Posted on 25 Feb 2025 by The Manufacturer

For many industries, the success of a business often hinges on its ability to unify and optimise operations. The story is no different for TASi measurement (TASi), a global leader in industrial measurement and monitoring solutions, with 16 business units managing production facilities in the United States, Canada, Europe and China.

The company operates across industries including energy, life sciences, automotive, and agriculture, providing temperature, level, flow, and pressure instruments, and facilitates data gathering and reporting from remote telemetry products.

As TASi experienced rapid growth both organically and through acquisitions, managing diverse systems and processes across its global business units and facilities became increasingly complex. To address this, in 2017, the company turned to cloud-based ERP solution Epicor Kinetic, to standardise operations and improve efficiency.

The phased rollout has seen six business units onboarded so far, with plans to double the annual implementation rate from 2025 onwards due to the multiple successes experienced so far.

Consistency is the foundation for growth

Standardising processes across TASi’s global operations has been key to the success of implementing Epicor Kinetic. By adopting a consistent approach across its business units, TASi has been able to facilitate knowledge sharing and establish best practices in reporting and automating.

Benefits include streamlined intercompany tasks like sales orders, purchase orders, and invoicing between its business units. And when a new business is onboarded, it can leverage the TASi standards immediately.

Daniel Topp, VP of IT at TASi Measurement explains, “This eliminates hours spent gathering, cross-checking, and combining account lists across the businesses. Epicor Kinetic supports us in establishing ‘gold standards’ across the entire group.”

Having this level of standardisation not only saves time, but also allows new acquisitions to integrate seamlessly. The result? A unified framework that accelerates success and encourages knowledge-sharing across business units.

Data fuels impact

But success goes beyond standardisation — it’s about making the most of your data. Epicor Kinetic equips TASi Measurement with rich data insights that drive smarter decision-making and operational efficiency.

Customisable dashboards provide real-time visibility into key metrics like lead times, inventory levels, and procurement schedules, enabling teams to optimise processes and reduce costs.

“Being able to sequence and prioritise work correctly delivers massive efficiencies,” Topp continued. “Getting a handle on costs is a huge advantage, as well as understanding what a job should cost and what it actually costs in terms of materials, overhead, and labour. With Epicor, we have all that data at our fingertips.”

In 2024 alone, TASi’s IT team reclaimed more than 38 hours per day of end-user time, which Epicor was a critical factor in enabling.

Driving innovation again and again

Pulsar Measurement—leading manufacturer and supplier of flow and level instrumentation and pump technology— is one of TASi’s UK-based businesses that has access to Epicor Kinetic, and they’ve made the most of it.

They’ve used the technology as a platform to drive innovation and help them to transition toward a paperless shop floor, reducing paper usage by a third thanks to centralised and accessible data across the warehouse.

Chris Thomas MD of Pulsar Measurement explained “The implementation of Epicor has been instrumental in our journey towards becoming a paperless organisation. Transitioning to a paperless environment was not without its challenges. Initially, the adaptation of working practices for those accustomed to traditional paper-based processes was an adjustment. Ensuring data security and managing the digital transformation of our documented processes required careful planning and execution.

Nevertheless, the benefits of Epicor have far outweighed these challenges. The system has streamlined our document management processes, significantly reducing the time and resources spent on handling physical paperwork. It has also enhanced our data accuracy and accessibility, allowing our team to collaborate and make decisions more efficiently as well as aligning with our commitment to sustainability. By reducing our paper consumption, we are contributing to environmental conservation and promoting a greener future.

We welcome this change with open arms, confident that Epicor will continue to support our growth and innovation. The transition has not only improved our operational efficiency but also reinforced our dedication to sustainability and technological advancement.”

This initiative is part of TASi’s broader commitment to achieving ISO 14001 environmental management certification across all manufacturing sites. “By managing sustainability, we reduce our environmental footprint and ensure business growth through strong governance, risk management, product innovation, and employee engagement.

“We are continually exploring new ways to reduce our environmental footprint through energy efficiency, waste minimisation, life cycle assessments, and supporting sustainable sourcing,” added Topp.

Using Epicor Kinetic has been a game-changer for TASi Measurement. It’s helped streamline day-to-day operations, improve inventory management, cut costs, and fuel rapid growth. As Daniel Topp puts it, “Epicor Kinetic is more than just software—it brings consistency across our business and lays the groundwork for future success.”
