Lord Green, minister of state for trade and investment, has visited metal bins manufacturer Taylor to officially launch its export programme, which has already seen the company secure orders in Africa, South East Asia and the Middle East.
The move is expected to increase Taylor’s output by 20-30% over the next year and generate jobs throughout the Midlands.
Visiting Taylor’s 20-acre site at Oak Park, Lord Green commented: “Taylor is an excellent example of a longstanding UK manufacturer that has committed to investing in a buoyant overseas market. Developing an international presence provides a route to growth and enables UK companies to unlock their potential. We’re delighted to support a company with such a rich manufacturing history and applaud Taylor for creating jobs within the region.”
Taylor’s decision to launch its international export programme follows a £1m investment in new product development and growing international demand for waste management solutions that address increasing urbanisation.
Peter Selkirk, Taylor’s chairman, said: “Our export strategy has been in development for the last five years so it’s fantastic that all our hard work is starting to come to fruition and that we’re laying the foundations for another successful fifty years.”
