The Manufacturer editor is on his bike

Will Stirling, editor of The Manufacturer, embarks on a gruelling challenge this Saturday (Oct 3) when he will begin a bottom-to-top UK scaling cycle ride from Land's End to John o’Groats.

Will, 37, from Teddington, is going to be flanked by his friend Jo Stickels, MD of colourants manufacturer Kreate Europe, on his epic journey. The pair are completing the feat to raise money for SolarAid – a charity which aims to reduce global poverty and climate change by providing solar energy equipment to under-developed countries.

Says Will: “This is something that Jo and I have been talking about for years but never put into action. Then, through my role as editor of The Manufacturer I came across SolarAid and the technology they supply. Raising some cash for them provided me the inspiration to step up to the plate. Plus I’m certainly not getting any younger!

He aims to complete the 874 Mile journey in seven days, averaging over 120 miles per day. The usual time for the journey is 10 to 14 days but Will says both he and the Trek road bike he’ll be riding can achieve the upped ante.

“It’s going to be an enormous challenge,” he adds, “but I am confident that me and my trusty steed can conquer it!”

Will is going to blog his journey on www.kreate-europe.com.
