A weary TM editor Will Stirling has now arrived back home having completed his epic cycle ride from Lands’ End to John o’Groats – knocking days off the average time.
Will completed the 900 mile journey in just eight days. The average participant takes ten to 12.
The 37 year old father of two from Teddington, Middlesex, started out on his epic journey last Saturday (Oct 3), flanked by an old friend, Jo Stickels, who is managing director of colourant manufacturer Kreate Europe. They arrived this Saturday just gone (Oct 10) at around seven in the evening.
The total aggregated journey time was 55 hours over the eight days. On their most industrious day Will and Jo chipped off 132 miles. Will recorded his top overall speed at 52 mph and his best average speed for a day at 18.75 mph.
On his arrival at the aesthetically-regarded most northerly point of Great Britain, Will described himself as “bloody delighted”.
“After 900 miles, 63 chocolate bars, four bunches of bananas, two packets of Neurofen and an extremely sore bum, it’s great to have made it,” he said.
