At a reception at the House of Lords, entries for the UK’s biggest manufacturing awards of the year were officially opened, and Santander was officially confirmed as the Official Banking Partner of the programme for the third year in a row.
The Manufacturer MX Awards 2019 will also be supported by category sponsors Autodesk (Product Innovation & Design), RS Components (Supply Chain Excellence) and Sage Enterprise Management (Operational Excellence).
The winners will be announced on 14 November 2019 at the awards ceremony and gala dinner, to be held in Liverpool.
The Manufacturer MX Awards are unchallenged as the UK’s biggest celebration of the manufacturing industry, and is part of Digital Manufacturing Week 2019, a suite of top-level events that attract the biggest and most qualified visitor base in the manufacturing sector.
Even after breaking all records in 2018, 2019 is expected to be even bigger and better.
Paul Brooks, UK Head of Manufacturing, Santander Corporate & Commercial, said: “Santander is delighted to be supporting The Manufacturer MX Awards again in 2019. The Manufacturing sector is more important than ever to the UK economy and these awards showcases the very best we have to offer from world-class businesses across the UK.”
Nick Peters, Editorial Director of The Manufacturer, commented: “We are delighted that Santander will be official banking partner again this year, underlining their deep commitment to the UK manufacturing sector.
“The entry process is now open and we are anticipating record numbers of submissions, reflecting the current buoyant mood and optimism in the sector. The ceremony itself will be held on the 14 November at the Liverpool Exhibition Centre as the finale to the Digital Manufacturing Week 2019.”
What are The Manufacturer MX Awards?
The industry’s most prestigious annual programme, The Manufacturer MX Awards was formed in 2015 following the merger of The Manufacturer of the Year Awards and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Manufacturing Excellence (MX) Awards.
These leading awards programmes have attracted entries from the UK’s leading manufacturing organisations in categories ranging from recognition in innovation and sustainability, through to apprenticeships, leadership and staff engagement.
Previous winners include: McLaren Automotive, Rolls-Royce, Jaguar Land Rover, BAE Systems, GE Aviation Wales, Coca-Cola Enterprises, BMW MINI, Domino Printing Sciences, Accolade Wines, Gripple, Siemens Industrial Technology, and MBDA Missile Systems.
Sam Turner, chair of the Manufacturing Industries Division at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and CTO at High Value Manufacturing Catapult, said: “These awards are a great celebration of UK manufacturing and innovation. They form a central part of the IMechE Manufacturing Industries Division’s strategy to promote and share manufacturing excellence.
“We’ve had some excellent winners again in 2018 from companies of all sizes and sectors and showcasing why the Manufacturing Industries provide the ideal environment to cultivate and deploy our excellent engineering talent. The IMechE and The High Value Manufacturing Catapult are proud to partner in The Manufacturer MX awards and to work with the participating companies.”
Accolade Wines were crowned The Manufacturer of the Year 2018, the highest accolade in the industry, alongside their victories in the Achieving Customer Value and Sustainable Manufacturing categories.
Accolade’s General Manager, European Operations & Supply Chain, Richard Lloyd, told The Manufacturer recently: “If you were to come to Accolade Park, you would see a smile on the faces of everyone following the big win – the pride behind that smile is huge.
“When you look at the scale of the The Manufacturer MX Awards and the competition we faced, we are honoured as a business to take the top award and to be crowned Manufacturer of the Year.”
