Digital Transformation

Digital Transformation represents the integration of digital into all areas of a business to improve operations and deliver greater value to customers, suppliers and stakeholders.
Digital Transformation represents the integration of digital into all areas of a business to improve operations and deliver greater value to customers, suppliers and stakeholders.

Digital Transformation is the term given to the transformation of business activities, processes and models to fully leverage the opportunities of new digital technology, according to Onalytica.

Particularly relevant to manufacturing – thanks to the rise of concepts such as Industry 4.0, the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the digitalisation of production, Digital Transformation represents the integration of digital into all areas of a business to improve operations and deliver greater value to customers, employees, suppliers, partners and stakeholders.

This transformation often necessitates a cultural shift and a change in leadership in order to encourage innovation and new business models.

The latest Annual Manufacturing Report, researched by Hennik Group – publishers of The Manufacturer – found that UK manufacturing leaders have largely bought the argument that only those companies that adopt digital technologies can effectively compete on the world stage.

Furthermore, it revealed that 89% of manufacturers believe that ‘Smart Factory’ technologies will enable their staff to work smarter, and a similar amount (87%) were preparing to invest in productivity-enhancing digital technologies over the coming 12 months.
