The Manufacturer Top 100 2022: celebrating Britain’s manufacturing heroes!

Posted on 17 Nov 2022 by Joe Bush

The Manufacturer Top 100 is a showcase of those individuals who go that extra mile in their work. Nominated by their peers and judged by an expert panel, they represent the very best of the UK manufacturing industry. Discover individuals who played no small part in that collective effort, whether it be pioneering their company’s journey towards digital transformation or helping the drive to net zero.

This isn’t a list of the biggest budgets, the highest revenues, or the longest careers. The Manufacturer Top 100 looks to reflect the broad spectrum of talent in the manufacturing industry. It recognises those starting out in their career as much as those that have already achieved greatness.

We do this by dividing the 100 finalists into seven categories: Digital Transformer, Innovator, Inspiring Leader, Unsung Hero, Young Pioneer, and two new categories we’ve added this year, Net Zero Hero and Sector Activist. Nominated by their peers and judged by an expert panel, the 100 people in these pages represent the very best of the UK manufacturing industry. And for those that have demonstrated particularly impressive achievements, our judging panel chose 20 for a special recognition – we call them ‘Exemplars’.

Joe Bush, Editor of The Manufacturer, commented: “At last year’s ceremony I was barely a month into my tenure as Editor of The Manufacturer magazine. However, if I was looking for the best way to become inspired by UK manufacturing, I could not have picked a better baptism than hosting the Top 100 Awards.

“The people who make up this industry are quite simply amazing; thriving in their roles during a year that has seen even more challenging circumstances thrown at a sector already battling on several fronts, such as the skills shortage, supply chain disruption, sustainability and digital transformation. Huge congratulations to all those involved. It is thoroughly well deserved and I speak for all of us at The Manufacturer and our Judging Panel when I say we are all proud of your achievements in making manufacturing in the UK the innovative and forward looking sector it is today.”
