The Manufacturer Top 100 was announced yesterday evening at an exclusive ceremony as part of Manufacturing & Engineering Week.
Celebrating its tenth anniversary, The Manufacturer Top 100 is a showcase of those individuals who go that extra mile in their work. Nominated by their peers and judged by an expert panel, they represent the very best of the UK manufacturing industry. Discover individuals who played no small part in that collective effort, whether it be pioneering their company’s journey towards digital transformation or helping the drive to net zero.
This isn’t a list of the biggest budgets, the highest revenues, or the longest careers. The Manufacturer Top 100 looks to reflect the broad spectrum of talent in the manufacturing industry. It recognises those starting out in their career as much as those that have already achieved greatness.
We do this by dividing the 100 finalists into seven categories: Digital Transformer, Innovator, Inspiring Leader, Unsung Hero, Young Pioneer, and two new categories we’ve added this year, Net Zero Hero and Sector Activist. Nominated by their peers and judged by an expert panel, the 100 people in these pages represent the very best of the UK manufacturing industry. And for those that have demonstrated particularly impressive achievements, our judging panel chose 20 for a special recognition – we call them ‘Exemplars’.

Of course, the primary goal of the Top 100 is to raise the profile of the sector and highlight the amazing opportunities that exist. It is perhaps easy for young people to visualise working in other sectors, but ask them to picture a career in manufacturing and the vision might be slightly opaque, outdated and certainly some way off the modern day reality. In terms of its importance to the UK I’ve heard the manufacturing sector described as the backbone in the background!
