The Manufacturer attended the National Manufacturing Debate at Cranfield University in May, where delegates were given the opportunity to ask people such as Professor Rajkumar Roy, head of the university’s engineering department, Sir Alan Rudge, chairman of the ERA Foundation and Minister of state for Business and Enterprise Mark Prisk about what is to be done about raising the profile of manufacturing in the UK and the barriers to growth it faces. Will Stirling asked Rajkumar Roy and Mark Prisk how manufacturing as a sector create jobs in the long term, how manufacturing can attract investment and what incentives such a tax breaks for specific investments are appropriate?
