Specialist engineering business and shortlisted in five TMMX Awards categories, Hayward Tyler Group welcomed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to officially open its new Centre of Excellence.
Additionally, the Duke and Duchess also made the presentation of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise to Ewan Lloyd-Baker, chief executive of the Hayward Tyler Group.
The Duke and Duchess cut the ribbon on the group’s new fit-for-nuclear facility in Luton, which recently underwent a multimillion pound refurbishment to support the Hayward Tyler’s long-term growth plans across its international markets.
The Centre of Excellence is reportedly now the world’s most advanced facility for specialist fluid-filled motor manufacturing.
CEO, Ewan Lloyd-Baker commented: “It was a great pleasure to host the Duke and Duchess to officially open the facility and also to present us with the Queen’s Award; an award that demonstrates the significant progress the Hayward Tyler Group has made, and will continue to make, with the help of everyone at the company.”
“It was a pleasure to have so many of our customers and other stakeholders witness the Royal visit, and see the outcome of all the hard work we have delivered over the past few years.
“We were proud to showcase the new facility to our strategic partners and loyal customers who will benefit from our enhanced capabilities.”
Also in attendance was Nick Hussey, CEO of Hennik Group – publishers of The Manufacturer, who commented: “It was a pleasure to witness the business receive the Queen’s Award, alongside the opening of its new Centre of Excellence on Wednesday [August 24).
“Hayward Tyler is a shining example of a forward-thinking business and the results that such a mindset can achieve, and clearly represents the future of UK manufacturing. Having announced a revenue increase of more than 25% over the previous year, this is yet another string to Hayward Tyler’s bow as the business looks ahead to November 2 and The Manufacturer MX Awards Ceremony in Birmingham.
“The business has been shortlisted in five categories and clearly demonstrates the robust strength of the competition this year, and all-round manufacturing excellence.”

The remaining three categories will be judged at the IMechE in London on September 21, where shortlisted companies will present to a panel of industry experts. Judges will deliberate and reach their final decisions on the day.
The awards programme will culminate at The Manufacturer MX Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner, at The Vox in Birmingham, where the winners will be crowned and celebrated by their industry peers. This is the biggest annual celebration in the industry’s calendar and this year places are limited to 850.
