Leading producer of energy efficient fan technology, Torin-Sifan is celebrating 50 years of British manufacturing, the formal opening of its EC Manufacturing & Technology Centre, and the launch of new product platforms.
Located in Pagoda Park, Swindon, the new 25,000 sq ft facility is hoped to become the company’s centre of excellence in the design, development and manufacture of highly efficient EC (electrical commutated) motor and fan technology.
Housing custom-designed production lines, a sales and marketing suite, and staff welfare area, Torin-Sifan’s entire EC product range is now being manufactured at the EC Manufacturing & Technology Centre.
A further three production lines are being designed and implemented to support several new EC product launches scheduled for the first half of 2015, targeted towards applications in the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) sector.
According to the company, legislation aimed at reducing the energy consumption of building products has driven significant migration to EC technology over the past decade, and demand is continuing to grow.
Torin-Sifan’s application to join the membership of the European Ventilation Industry (EVIA) has been successful, it was also announced.
EVIA aims to promote energy efficient ventilation applications across Europe, while highlighting the significant impact good indoor air quality has on health and comfort. With the EU keen to lower carbon emissions, energy efficiency targets in building legislation are set to tighten. The ventilation industry hjas a key role to play in meeting these targets and EVIA aims to serve as a platform and point of contact between all relevant European stakeholders, including policy makers and product manufacturers.
The advanced Centre provides the manufacturing capacity needed to satisfy both current and future requirements, as well as an ideal environment for continued product and technology innovation.
The new facility has allowed the company to increase EC production by more than 20%, while continuing with the manufacture of its traditional product ranges at its existing Greenbridge headquarters – also located in Swindon.
The company’s MD, Neil Sproston told The Manufacturer: “As we celebrate 50 years of British manufacturing and innovation, we are delighted to open a world-class manufacturing centre here in Swindon.
“At Torin-Sifan we are committed to producing high-quality, innovative products and lowering carbon emissions, British manufacturing allows us to deliver this for our customers. This expansion of our manufacturing capabilities means we are even better able to offer our global customer base cutting-edge air movement technology, and improved facilities will benefit both customers and staff.
“To be able to manufacture successfully in the UK is testament to the quality of our products and to the skills base here.”
