The historical town of Hinckley is gearing up for action as Triumph's action-packed festival prepares to roar into town this weekend.
UK motorcycle manufacturer Triumph has organised a weekend-long festival of activities to mark its 110 year anniversary and, in honour of the festival, Hinckley in Leicestershire has changed its name to ‘Hinckley Home of Triumph’.
Visitors to this weekend’s festival, Triumph Live 2012, will have the opportunity to tour the Triumph factory, listen to some of the UK’s top bands and see the most comprehensive collection of Triumph motorcycles ever assembled.
Many of the motorcycles at the exhibition have come from private collector Dick Shepherd’s 300-strong collection, which includes famous bikes such as the 2002 Bonneville from the film Terminator 3, the 2006 Bonneville Scrambler from Mission Impossible 3 and the iconic 1952 TR5 Trophy ridden by The Fonz in 1970’s hit American TV show, Happy Days.
Mr Shepherd said: “Triumph is an iconic brand which represents all that is great about British innovation, manufacturing and quality. Triumph Live will be the first time that many of the bikes have been seen by the general public and I’m really excited about sharing them with visitors to the festival.”
Triumph’s state-of-the-art factory in Hinckley employs over 700 people and manufactures 25,000 motorcycles each year, half of Triumph’s total annual production. Festival-goers will have the opportunity to tour the factory and see its iconic bikes in production.
The evenings have been dedicated to live entertainment, with an eclectic mix of music, headlined by Kaiser Chiefs and Reef.
Over the weekend, Triumph will be showcasing their 2013 models for the first time. It’s also offering the chance to ride your own bike around Mallory Park race track on the Friday.
Triumph Live runs every two years. This year’s edition takes place from Friday August 31 to Sunday September 2 at Mallory Park, Leicestershire. Tickets are available on the door and cost from £27 per day. Entry for under 16s is free when accompanied by a paying adult. For more information visit www.triumphlive.com.
