The quality of applicants for the UK Export Excellence Awards 2017 is even stronger than last year, following the programme’s debut in 2016.

Delivered through a partnership between The Manufacturer and Global Trade Review (GTR), the awards seek to recognise and celebrate the cream of UK exporters across a range of sectors and geographical regions.

Shortlisted firms now must wait until the evening of June 15, when the winners will be revealed at a black-tie ceremony and gala dinner at the Grange Hotel, Tower Bridge, London.

Last year’s overall Exporter of the Year was scooped up by transmission technology manufacturer, Xtrac, which also took home the Export Excellence in Europe Award.

Stephen Lane, finance director at Xtrac told The Manufacturer at the time: “It’s tremendous and a testament to what we do. There’s a lot of talent in the company and we base ourselves so much on our ability to export our products.

“We export three-quarters of our business around the world, with half of that going into Europe; everything we do is geared towards exports. To win one award is great, but to win overall is fantastic.”
