OMG Plc, Cableduct Ltd and Authentix were the big manufacturing winners at the Knowledge Transfer Partnership Awards which took place in London last night.

The three won ‘UK Winning Partnerships’ for their work with Oxford Brookes University, London South Bank University University of York respectively. KTP’s work by linking a company, an academic institution and an ‘associate’ – the individual who applies skills learnt in to processes at the firm.
In the case of OMG Plc and Oxford Brookes University, the KTP is expected to generate a £1,200,000 rise in sales turnover following the production of a highly automated motion capture system based on video technology. The partnership also received the special award for the Best Knowledge Transfer Partnership.
“The impressive results achieved by companies such as OMG Plc, Cableduct Ltd and Authentix provide a welcome indication that the UK economy is equipped to meet the challenging demands of a tough economic climate and increasing global competition,” said KTP Programme Director, Dr Debbie Buckley-Golder.
“The Knowledge Transfer Partnerships is a great success and will continue to grow as businesses increasingly recognise the value of tapping into the skills and knowledge that exist within the UK’s academic institutions. Businesses and universities need to continue to work together to ensure that innovation blossoms throughout the UK and secures our economic future.”
Four manufacturing associates won Business Leader of Tomorrow Awards. They went to Mark Bibby with Vista Panels Ltd and Liverpool John Moores University; Liang Zong who worked with Herbert Retail Ltd and the University of Hertfordshire; David Kennedy with High Tech Steel Services and the University of Liverpool, and Clare Rowe with Rozone Ltd and the University of Wolverhampton.
