A new photo exhibition celebrating UK manufacturing has opened in London today.
Open for Business exhibits in the capital’s Science Museum and depicts over 100 workplaces from across the UK including Tate & Lyle, Bombardier and Vauxhall.
Shot by nine magnum photographers including American street photographer Bruce Gilden and Brit Martin Parr, the exhibition encompassing both SMEs and large multinational companies.
In a selection of photography and film footage, organisers say the exhibition aims to demonstrates the “extraordinary adaptability and diversity” of the sector.
This encompasses the challenges faced by manufacturing firms against foreign competition and the effect businesses have on regional culture and community life.
The work also demonstrates the physical impact of work, and raises questions about the social responsibilities companies have to their employees.
Open for Business runs until November 2 at the Science Museum in London, before touring the UK.
