Unipart has appointed Bryan Jackson CBE as a non-executive director of Unipart Group.
Mr Jackson has been a director of Unipart Manufacturing Group since 2005, taking on the role of deputy chairman in 2007 after a long career with Ford and Toyota Motor Manufacturing (UK) Limited.
He joined Toyota at the beginning of its UK project in 1990; he retired from the position of managing director in 2004, having previously spent 23 years with Ford Motor Company.
Between 2004 and 2009 he was an advisor to Toyota in Europe.
During his career, he has worked in many disciplines holding senior positions and managing several different plants in the UK and Europe covering the full range of vehicle manufacturing.
He is also a keen advocate in developing UK manufacturing on the global stage. He is a past chairman of the East Midlands Development Agency, having first been appointed to this role in 2004. He was also previously chairman of the East Midlands Regional Council of the Confederation of British Industry.
His commitment to UK manufacturing was recognised in the 2012 New Year Honours when he received the CBE for services to economic development and manufacturing.
Commenting on the appointment, Unipart chairman and group chief executive John Neill said: “Bryan’s track record speaks for itself… during his tenure at Unipart Manufacturing Group, the business has seen significant growth in a number of new and exciting sectors, as well as recently securing a £1.3 million grant from the Growing Places fund which will mean long-term investment in facilities and jobs within UMG.”
