Car manufacturer Vauxhall has announced it is to create 300 jobs at its Ellesmere Port Astra plant in Cheshire.
The extra jobs will come as a result of a new model, which will begin production next year.
The announcement, which is Vauxhall’s first significant new recruit announcement in more than a decade, comes on the back of a further 250 jobs also being created at the company’s Luton van factory in Bedfordshire.
The new recruits will be taken on towards the beginning of 2015, joining the already 1,600 strong workforce.
In 2012, Ellesmere Port won the contract to build the next generation, all-new Astra. Production of this model begins towards the end of 2015. The agreement secured the plant’s future into the next decade and secured a £125 investment.
The plant and its employees only last month celebrated 50 years since the first Vauxhall rolled off its production line.
