Construction has begun on the new Warburtons production site in Bristol – an investment that will create 450 jobs for the area.
The factory is to be fitted out with state-of-the-art equipment that will enable it to make 1.5 million products per week.
“We only opened our Welsh bakery in Newport two years ago but we still need more capacity to meet increasing consumer demand,” explained chairman Jonathan Warburton.
“Bristol was a natural choice for our south west bakery as this is where the demand is. Not only is the road infrastructure perfect for distribution to the whole of the region… but the site also gives us room to expand as demand increases even further in the future,” said general manager David Williams.
The new site is due to open by the end of the year.
