Yunex Traffic UK is strengthening its long-term commitment to British manufacturing with a major investment in a new purpose-built facility at Bournemouth Airport, aimed at expanding production capacity and accelerating innovation in intelligent transport systems.
The company has signed a lease of up to 20 years for the site at Aviation Business Park, marking a significant step in the evolution of its UK operations. The move will consolidate manufacturing, engineering and office teams under one roof for the first time, creating a more integrated and efficient environment to support future growth.
Building on decades of engineering heritage
The relocation builds on more than 60 years of engineering expertise in Poole, where Yunex Traffic has operated since 1966. Over that time, the business has played a key role in developing traffic management technologies for cities and infrastructure providers, while also training generations of engineers and apprentices.
By moving to a modern, larger facility, the company is positioning itself to meet rising demand for intelligent mobility solutions both in the UK and internationally. Yunex Traffic already exports to more than 55 countries, and the new site is expected to strengthen its global delivery capability.
Expanded manufacturing and R&D capability
Central to the investment is a significant expansion of manufacturing capacity. The new facility will include a modern production hall with dedicated PCB manufacturing, advanced assembly stations and a global repair centre for electronic components, enhancing both production output and lifecycle support.
The site will also feature integrated research and development space, enabling closer collaboration between engineering and manufacturing teams as the company continues to develop hardware and software solutions for smarter, more sustainable traffic systems.
Improved logistics and distribution capabilities are expected to streamline material flow and accelerate delivery times, supporting both domestic and export markets.
Supporting jobs and regional growth
Around 500 employees are set to relocate to the new facility throughout 2026, safeguarding skilled roles while creating additional opportunities in engineering, digital innovation and manufacturing. The investment is also expected to strengthen the South Coast’s growing technology cluster, fostering collaboration with regional partners and supporting broader economic growth.
Sustainability is another key focus, with the site incorporating features such as solar panels to reduce energy consumption and support long-term environmental goals.
