Tell us a bit about yourself. This can include telling us what fires you up about the job you do, your professional achievements, your career highlights. What inspires you? What attracted you to pursue a career in manufacturing? Is there anything else you’d like to say about either your job or UK manufacturing?
Cars have been my lifelong passion which is reflected in my career spanning manufacturing, engineering and leadership roles at companies including Jaguar Cars, Aston Martin, Lotus and Ricardo. I thrive in environments that combine engineering logic, design thinking and human-centred skills and my current role at McLaren Applied offers this, and more.

I lead a business that develops new products and services in the fast-growing electric vehicle (EV) charging sector. This brings new and exciting opportunities for bringing high-quality, ultra-rapid EV charging equipment to the UK market. Cars are never far from my mind and, when not enjoying downtime time with family, I’m either actively following the Formula 1 or experiencing breathtaking scenery on the best driving roads in the UK and Europe.

What advice would you give to your younger self?
Listen to others who have trodden the path you wish to follow, take action, and don’t be afraid to fail.

What is your favourite engineered/manufactured product?
My car… it’s lightweight, compact and beautifully engineered.

Please give one interesting fact about yourself that not many people know.
I am an off-piste snowboarder.

If you weren’t in manufacturing what would be your dream job?
A car designer or a road trip tour guide.
