A robot that is able to autonomously ride a motorcycle has been showcased by Yamaha at the Tokyo Motor Show and has given notice to nine-times world champion Valentino Rossi that it was created to surpass him.
Described by Yamaha as “an autonomous motorcycle-riding humanoid robot”, MOTOBOT is shown in the video below as riding a 1,000cc R1M superbike that has been modified with motorcycle training wheels.
Aside from its challenge, Yamaha says knowledge gained from MOTOBOT will also help to develop advanced rider safety systems.
