Airbus is investing £150m to expand aircraft wing production at its Broughton site in Flintshire, Wales, creating 480 new jobs.
The investment will convert a former A380 wing production facility into a new production line for the A321, with work expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
The refurbished facility will include six wing production jigs, an equipping line and paint shops. Of the 480 new roles, 250 will be based in the refurbished factory, adding to the 6,000 employees already working at Airbus’ Broughton site.
Expanding aircraft production
The investment will increase Airbus’ manufacturing capacity at Broughton as the company works to meet demand for its A320 aircraft family.
Airbus said the expansion will strengthen its UK industrial footprint, create high-value manufacturing jobs and support the wider UK aerospace sector.

The Broughton investment follows a separate multi-million-pound investment in Airbus’ Belfast operation announced earlier this year.
The company currently employs around 6,000 people at Broughton, making the site a major aerospace manufacturing employer in Wales.
The expanded facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
