Of the 4,000 new recruits Airbus plans to employ in 2012, 25% will be women, the aircraft maker claims.

Coming on International Women’s Day, the pledge is good news for women in engineering and manufacturing, sectors which tend to be male-dominated.

Airbus intends to hire 4,000 new people worldwide in 2012. The company says it is developing women’s careers at all levels of the company with the objective to broaden its knowhow and soft skills on managerial capabilities, by increasing the number of women in management positions.
