Bentley Motors has announced it will use Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for all customer car airfreight shipments worldwide, a move the luxury carmaker said marks a significant step in decarbonising its global logistics operations.

The policy takes effect immediately and applies to all customer vehicle movements that require air transport, typically reserved for time-critical or market-driven deliveries. Bentley said the change will help reduce emissions linked to airfreight while maintaining delivery standards expected by customers.

Targeting high-emission logistics

Air transport produces far higher emissions than sea freight, making it a priority area for reduction. By switching to certified SAF, Bentley aims to cut lifecycle CO₂e emissions associated with essential air shipments.

“Sustainable Aviation Fuel can deliver significant, independently verified reductions in life cycle CO₂e emissions compared with conventional jet fuel,” said Aimee Kelly, Head of Sustainability at Bentley Motors. She added that integrating SAF into logistics is “a meaningful lever within our wider decarbonisation strategy”.

SAF is an ISCC-certified alternative made from renewable or waste-based feedstocks and can be used in existing aircraft infrastructure without modification. Depending on production methods, it can reduce lifecycle emissions by up to 70–95% compared with conventional jet fuel.

Part of broader net-zero ambitions

Bentley said it has already transported customer vehicles using SAF, achieving measurable well-to-wheel emissions reductions. The company is also exploring extending SAF use to other logistics routes where airfreight may be required.

Kelly said the initiative supports Bentley’s long-term climate commitments and aligns with its Beyond100+ strategy, which aims to embed sustainability across operations and value chains.

By prioritising SAF for unavoidable flights, Bentley said it is taking a practical step toward reducing supply chain emissions while maintaining service standards for its global customers.
