A West Midlands manufacturer has announced plans to build a new headquarters in Birmingham to accommodate its continued growth.

Guhring, a maker and supplier of precision tools across multiple industries, is to leave its current base in Castle Bromwich to move to a new site in the east of Birmingham.

The company, which employs 76 staff in the second city, has cited both domestic and overseas growth as a driving factor for the move to the 50,000 sq ft facility.

Investments will also take place in other areas of the business including in its IT infrastructure to support growth for a company employing 6,000 worldwide and offering services for the aerospace, automotive, medical and engineering sectors.

Yvonne Clune, finance and IT manager at Guhring, said: “We are at the cutting-edge of manufacturing and supply a range of sectors and that has led to the need for expansion.

“That is why we are developing plans to build our own HQ for the UK here in the West Midlands which is at the heart of manufacturing and engineering in this country.

She added the company will be using local IT firm ACUTEC to manage its IT and cited this as another example of how one company’s growth can have a knock-on effect across a region.

Chris Roche, managing director of ACUTEC, added: “It’s great to see the manufacturing and engineering sector in the West Midlands thriving again and, of course, that is good for service-based businesses like ACUTEC.

“We are delighted to be working with Guhring and look forward to assisting them when they come to move into their new UK headquarters here in the West Midlands.”
