UK Manufacturing PMI: industry records growth for first time since July 2022
The UK manufacturing industry showed some signs of recovery in March, with production and new orders both picking up following a prolonged period of contraction, according to the latest S&P Global UK Manufacturing PMI®. More via The Manufacturer
Korean Air finalises order for 33 Airbus A350s
Korean Air has become a new customer for the A350 Family following the signature of a firm order with Airbus for 33 aircraft. The order covers 27 A350-1000s and six A350-900s.
Offering the longest range of any aircraft, the A350 will be able to operate any of the airline’s current intercontinental routes with a 25% reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared to previous generation aircraft. The additional range of the A350 will also enable the carrier to evaluate new long haul destinations. More via Airbus
BAE Systems’ Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System for F-15 aircraft completes operational testing
The US Air Force recently completed Initial Operational Test & Evaluation (IOT&E) of the Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS), validating the game-changing capabilities BAE Systems’ advanced system brings to the F-15. EPAWSS provides critical electronic warfare (EW) capabilities for the F-15E Strike Eagle and F-15EX Eagle II aircraft. More via BAE Systems
IMI Critical Engineering delivers £15m orders for hydrogen value chain in 2023
IMI Critical Engineering (IMI) has announced a record year for orders throughout the hydrogen value chain in 2023.
Last year saw the manufacturer double its 2022 orders to deliver £15m worth of projects to support the generation of hydrogen. More via The Manufacturer
Nobia consolidates UK manufacturing operations
Nobia has unveiled plans to further consolidate its manufacturing operations in the UK as part of its ongoing UK transformation strategy. The company will be relocating its current manufacturing facility in Halifax to the Darlington manufacturing site, with the building in Halifax set to be repurposed as a storage facility. Canoo faces funding crunch as it buys Arrival manufacturing kit
Electric light truck startup Canoo has started shipping its commercial vehicles but faces a funding crunch as it buys equipment from a failed UK startup.
Canoo shipped 22 vehicles in 2023, 17 of them in the last quarter, and has deals with the United States Post Office (USPO), space Agency NASA and Walmart. More via eeNews Europe
UK-wide network for PEMD manufacturing announces new Chair
Professor Mike Capaldi, Dean of Innovation and Business at Newcastle University has been announced as the new Chair of DER-IC, a UK-wide Power, Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD) manufacturing network.
The strategic appointment is aligned with DER-IC’s drive to support the commercialisation and innovation of the PEMD manufacturing supply chain. More via The Manufacturer
