£2.5m in APC funding to help accelerate small automotive businesses

Fourteen small to medium-sized businesses (SMEs) specialising in clean, green technology have won a share of over £2.5m in government grant funding through the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP) which helps cutting-edge technology developers bring their innovations to life. Coca-Cola Europacific Partners makes further investment in recycling technology to accelerate the elimination of virgin plastic in its bottles

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) is accelerating its ambition to eliminate virgin oil-based plastic from its bottles through an investment in scaling technology that offers a new lease of life for hard-to-recycle plastic polyester waste, and creates high quality rPET for food and drink packaging.

Through its innovation investment engine, CCEP Ventures, CCEP is making a further investment in recycling start-up CuRe Technology, which uses ‘polyester rejuvenation’ to target plastics that cannot be recycled by mechanical recycling methods and prevents them from being incinerated, downcycled or sent to landfill. Airbus selects UK National Satellite Test Facility for SKYNET 6A testing

Airbus has selected the National Satellite Test Facility (NSTF) at Harwell in Oxfordshire to carry out the comprehensive test campaign on the UK Ministry of Defence’s next generation secure communications satellite SKYNET 6A.

The £116m government-funded NSTF, operated by experts from the STFC RAL Space (Science and Technology Facilities Council), will carry out the SKYNET 6A test campaign, including electromagnetic compatibility, as well as acoustic and thermal vacuum testing, to replicate the harsh conditions of space. Go-Ahead’s coronation buses take to the road

Go-Ahead has unveiled commemorative buses in London and in the south-west of England to mark the coronation of Their Majesties Kings Charles III and Queen Camilla.

In Devon, a red, white and blue Plymouth Citybus double-decker with festive bunting will take to the streets of Britain’s Ocean City to mark the historic royal event, operating on route 25 which runs around Plymouth Hoe and waterfront.

In the capital, a special Go-Ahead London bus is still in its iconic red colour but boasts a new design and is decorated in the official emblem of the coronation. Read more via Go-Ahead

British Steel’s £3.1m investment in mobile equipment boosts operations

A £3.1m investment in heavy mobile equipment is giving British Steel’s Scunthorpe operations a major lift – and now you can see them in action for yourself. Babcock to deliver new high-tech helicopters through $288m partnership with Queensland Government

High-tech helicopters which can travel further and faster will soon boost healthcare in the Torres Strait and Northern Cape York Peninsula of Australia after Babcock was chosen as the provider of emergency helicopter services for the region.

Operating from Horn Island, Babcock will provide 24/7 services across the region including aeromedical retrieval and search and rescue. Read more via Babcock International
