Bentley announces new board member for manufacturing

Bentley Motors has announced the appointment of Andreas Lehe as the new Board Member for Manufacturing, commencing 1 September 2023. Lehe will report directly to Adrian Hallmark, Chairman and CEO.

Lehe joins Bentley from AUDI AG, where he most recently held the role of Head of Strategic Planning, responsible for the continuous development of Audi’s production strategy, digitisation of production and logistics as well as the associated global production network. Scotland’s aerospace, defence, security and space sectors contributed £7bn in turnover and £3.2bn in value add in 2022

Scottish businesses in the aerospace, defence, security and space sectors added £3.2bn to the UK economy, according to the latest figures from ADS Group. The 2023 Scotland Facts and Figures published by the trade association further reveals that businesses in Scotland generated £7.3bn in turnover, as well as directly employing 33,500 people. Alexander Dennis Enviro200AV autonomous bus completes Dubai World Challenge testing

Alexander Dennis yesterday announced that it has concluded on-track testing of an Enviro200AV autonomous bus in the 2023 Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport.

The vehicle submitted to the challenge by Alexander Dennis and Fusion Processing is an Enviro200AV autonomous single deck bus. It is one of five vehicles built for the CAVForth project, which launched its 14-mile route across the Forth Road Bridge near Edinburgh earlier this year as the world’s most complex and ambitious autonomous bus service. Babcock awarded initial contract for second Vanguard Class submarine refit

Babcock and the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) have signed an initial contract for the multi-year refit of the second of the UK’s Vanguard Class nuclear submarines, HMS Victorious.

HMS Victorious plays a vital role in the UK’s continuous at sea deterrent. The refit programme will support around 1000 jobs in the local community and will see Babcock continue to build its workforce for delivering future submarine maintenance at Devonport. Read more via Babcock International

A power aid designed to help a person with memory function, directions, warnings, and hearing better scooped the top prize at a presentation ceremony for the Primary Engineer Leaders Award competition held at the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC). Kraft Heinz invests $400m to build one of the largest automated CPG distribution centers in North America

The Kraft Heinz Company has announced a more than $400m investment to build one of the largest automated CPG distribution centers in North America.

Located in DeKalb, Ill., the 775,000 square-foot national distribution facility will feature state-of-the-art automation technology and national railway access, enabling Kraft Heinz to drive greater supply chain efficiencies and distribute its products to retail and foodservice customers faster than ever. Delta Air Lines discloses order for 12 additional Airbus A220 aircraft

Under its current agreement, Delta Air Lines has disclosed an order for 12 additional Airbus A220-300 aircraft, bringing the airline’s total firm order for A220s to 131 aircraft – 45 A220-100s and 86 A220-300. Throughout the years, Delta has reordered the A220 five times and is today the largest A220 customer and operator in the world. Read more via Airbus

Jennifer Rumsey named chair of the Cummins board of directors

Cummins Inc. has announced its Board of Directors has unanimously elected Cummins President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jennifer Rumsey to Chair of the company’s Board of Directors, effective August 1, 2023. Rumsey succeeds Tom Linebarger, who is retiring from both of his Cummins positions as Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board, effective July 31, 2023. Read more via Cummins
