Encirc achieves Gold level in BITC Business and Biodiversity Charter

Glass manufacturer and bottle filler Encirc has announced that its factory at Cheshire has achieved Gold Level in the Business and Biodiversity Charter awards presented by Business In The Community’s (BITC).

The award comes after the Cheshire site transformed more than 2km of local woodland and serves as a recognition of the Cheshire site’s ‘commitment to responsible business practices that improve biodiversity conservation’. Find out more at The Manufacturer

MTL Advanced hiring 50 workers in 2024 after securing £40m armoured car contract

MTL Advanced Ltd has announced its recent success in being awarded additional multi-million, multi-year defence contracts from KNDS for the UK’s Boxer programme.

MTL Advanced is adding to its current contract to supply armoured steel kits of parts for over 450 Drive Modules to KNDS’s fabrication line in Stockport.

Based on this and other contracts which MTL has won over the last 6 months, the company is expecting to hire over 50 additional staff during 2024 and create opportunities for a further 15 apprenticeship positions per year. Find out more at MTL Advanced

Pioneering British golf trolley manufacturer Stewart Golf has announced the celebration of its 20th anniversary.

Since the release of its first electric trolley in 2003, Stewart has been unrelenting in its aim to change how the world plays golf.

St Ives students learn importance of environmental stewardship with the help of Hyundai

Children from a school in St Ives have taken part in an educational trip to help them understand the basics of littering and protecting the marine ecosystem.

St Ives Junior School students took part in the trip which is being run by motor organisation Hyundai and the charity Healthy Seas initiative to educate them on the importance of recycling and protecting marine life. Find out more at Falmouth Packet

CBI secures emergency funding to stave off potential collapse

The Confederation of British Industry has secured emergency funding from a series of banks, staving off potential collapse after members fled the business lobby group in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations.

The funding package comes after a last-minute cancellation of the trade body’s scheduled annual meeting last week as it scrambled to raise the £3m it needed to get through this year. Find out more at The Guardian

West Midlands tycoon, 21, saves wheel maker Rimstock

Britain’s last remaining manufacturer of alloy wheels has been rescued by a 21-year-old who is also vying to buy Morecambe Football Club.

West Bromwich-based Rimstock, which makes forged wheels for luxury marques including Aston Martin and Bentley, has been bought out of administration by Sarb Capital, the investment vehicle of Sarbjot Singh Johal. Find out more at The Times
