Exports drive CV production in best year since 2010

UK commercial vehicle (CV) production increased by 18.5% in 2023 with 120,357 vans, trucks, taxis, buses and coaches leaving factory lines, according to the latest figures published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). Output reached its highest level in 13 years as global supply chain issues and pandemic-related challenges eased, allowing manufacturing to get back on track. More via SMMT

Opening of MRC institute building heralds new ‘team science’ era

The Princess Royal officially opens £120m state-of-the-art MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS) building on Imperial College London Hammersmith campus.

The institute’s new home at Imperial College London is a striking eight-storey building clad in anodised aluminium and houses 400 scientists. It is one of only two laboratories in the UK wholly-funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC). More via UK Research and Innovation

LOCTITE looks forward to another successful Formula E season with TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team

The new season of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship begins in January 2024, and next time you watch the cars from the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, you might not realise they feature a secret ingredient: LOCTITE.

Henkel Adhesive Technologies, through its LOCTITE brand, has formed a close partnership with the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team. The collaboration began in 2021, when Henkel Application Engineer Martin Christall met the team to identify possible points of use where Loctite could further improve the performance and reliability of the team’s electric race car. Airbus opens first service centre dedicated to the entire lifecycle of an aircraft

The Airbus Lifecycle Services Centre (ALSC) has started its operations in Chengdu (China), offering solutions to manage the entire lifecycle of an aircraft. This centre is the first of its kind to cover, as a one-stop shop, the full range of activities from aircraft parking and storage to maintenance, upgrades, conversions, dismantling and recycling services for various aircraft types, as well as the controlled distribution of used parts from dismantling. Aston Martin announced as High-Performance Partner of The Jockey Club

Aston Martin has been announced as the official High-Performance Partner of The Jockey Club, bringing the ultra-luxury manufacturer’s thrilling horsepower to some of the UK’s most prestigious horseracing events.

The iconic British brand made its debut with The Jockey Club as High-Performance partner of The Derby Festival at Epsom Downs in 2023 and the new partnership announced today sees it extend its presence to now include The Cheltenham Festival, the Randox Grand National Festival at Aintree, Newmarket’s QIPCO Guineas Festival as well as the Betfred Derby Festival. ACE taps into reshoring boom to post £800,000 sales boost

A precision component specialist has posted a ten percent increase in sales after making the most of a ‘reshoring boom’.

Advanced Chemical Etching (ACE), which supplies parts to customers in aerospace, automotive, electronics, general engineering, medical and telecoms, has taken advantage of the growing trend towards reshoring and secured £800,000 of new orders from companies looking to tap into exacting quality and new product development expertise. First quarter revenue drop for food manufacturer Greencore

UK convenience food manufacturer, Greencore, which has its headquarters in Dublin, saw a drop in revenue for the first quarter of the 2024 financial year.

Its latest financial results show that group revenue decreased by 4.7% to £441.3m. More via Agriland
