BAE Systems awarded $145m contract for USS Nitze modernisation
BAE Systems has received a $145m contract from the US Navy for the maintenance and modernisation of the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Nitze (DDG 94). The value of the competitively awarded contract could reach $161m if all options are exercised.
Under the depot maintenance period (DMP) contract awarded, BAE Systems’ Norfolk shipyard will dry-dock the ship, perform underwater hull preservation work, upgrade the ship’s Aegis combat system and its command and control equipment, and refurbish the living spaces for the ship’s 325 crewmembers. Modest start to 2023 aircraft orders and deliveries
Global aircraft orders for January saw a modest start to 2023, the majority of orders placed were for single-aisle aircraft with 70 single-aisle and 22 wide-body aircraft ordered, 19 per cent less than 2022, but in line with post pandemic recovery trends and expectations.
Manufacturers delivered 58 aircraft, 53 single-aisle and 5 wide-body aircraft, which compared to January 2022 is a 6 per cent decrease. Read more via ADS Group

Herefordshire-based Natural Paint UK Limited, owner of the premium Edward Bulmer Natural Paint brand, has used specialist advice and funding to embark on a new marketing strategy and a Corporate Sustainability Impact Report so it can fully demonstrate the social good it delivers. ZwickRoell announces HQ move and inaugural UK testing forum
A leading global supplier of materials testing products, which has been operating in the UK for over 40 years, has moved its headquarters to Worcester, occupying new, purpose-built premises.
ZwickRoell is a manufacturer of technically advanced testing machines and systems which are employed in a wide range of industries and academia to evaluate the mechanical properties and performance of materials and components.

The Vita Group’s Italian acquisition sees staff numbers double and production quadruple
Two years after The Vita Group opened operations in Italy, the Naples site has gone from strength to strength.
Vita’s acquisition of Naples based Italian foam manufacturer I.M.P.E. S.p.A in January 2021 saw the group expand its reach into the second largest furniture producing country in Europe and one of the largest furniture exporters in the world. Read more via The Manufacturer
