Drayson Racing Technologies’ electric racing car, the B12/69EV, debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed yesterday, achieving a new electric car record on the iconic course.
The all-electric vehicle finished eleventh overall in the race and was the fastest electric car with a run time of 53.91 seconds.
The zero emission racing car, unveiled earlier this year at the MIA International Low Carbon Conference in January, features an 850 horsepower electric drivetrain and can reach a top speed of 320kph.
Lord Drayson, managing partner at the green technology developer, said: “I am delighted that we have achieved this record on our first public outing with the car. As the track dried out and we could use all the torque from the electric drive, our times kept improving”
The Goodwood festival took place from June 29 to July 1 at the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex and attracted over 180,000 visitors. The weekend attracts automotive manufacturers, teams and collectors from all over the world.
