Entegris is expanding its U.S. manufacturing footprint with a new Front-Opening Unified Pod (FOUP) production facility in Colorado Springs, strengthening the domestic semiconductor supply chain and supporting the country’s advanced manufacturing ambitions.
The company plans to invest roughly $600 million over several years to build a 130,000-square-foot Manufacturing Center of Excellence, which will support its Materials Solutions and Advanced Purity Solutions divisions. The new site represents a significant addition to Entegris’ U.S. operations and is expected to create about 600 high-quality jobs, doubling the company’s presence in the region.
The expansion comes as the global semiconductor industry is projected to double in size by 2030, reaching $1 trillion. Entegris’ investment aims to ensure that the U.S. maintains a strong position in this rapidly growing market by reinforcing the domestic materials supply chain that supports chip production.
“By investing in Colorado Springs, we’re strengthening U.S. manufacturing and positioning both Entegris and our customers for long-term success,” the company said in a statement. “This new facility represents a transformational step in advancing the nation’s technology leadership.”
The project has been awarded $75 million in proposed CHIPS Act funding, recognizing its importance to the national semiconductor ecosystem. Federal, state, and local officials joined Entegris leaders and community members for the groundbreaking ceremony, marking the start of construction on the state-of-the-art site.
Beyond manufacturing, Entegris plans to collaborate with local schools and workforce programs to develop talent pipelines, including apprenticeship opportunities and outreach to veterans and underrepresented groups. Sustainability will also be a central focus, with plans for advanced resource stewardship and community integration to preserve the area’s natural landscape.
The new facility underscores Entegris’ commitment to innovation, sustainability, and U.S competitiveness in semiconductor manufacturing.
