A record number of companies have entered The Manufacturer of the Year Awards 2014, with a 25% increase on last year.

In the first half of the year the manufacturing sector benefited from one of its brightest periods in output, new order growth, exports and inward investment since the recession. Manufacturers have a new found confidence and are realising just how integral they are to economic recovery.

The Manufacturer Director’s Conference 2014

As the flagship event The Manufacturer Directors’ Conference (TMDC) will focus on the drive for continued growth in the year ahead, addressing both the opportunity for innovation and investment that this will bring. High achieving leaders will impart their knowledge and give insight about how they plan to grow their business. This will be complemented by inspirational industry figures, key government members and leading academics who will discuss the trends and influences that are shaping the future of manufacturing.

This year’s event will once again be held at Birmingham’s ICC on November 26-27. For more information or to register your attendance, visit the TMDC website.

So much so, that the best names in manufacturing have been eagerly queuing up to submit their entries and thrust their hard work and determination into the spotlight by taking home one of our coveted award trophies.

This year’s entries have come from a wide variety of manufacturing sectors from food and drink to automotive, and include firms of all sizes. Previous entrants have returned, along with new companies.

This year’s awards were launched at the House of Commons on March 3 sponsored by Margot James MP and attended by Defence Secretary Michael Fallon. More than 200 senior business leaders turned out for the launch to support TM’s hard work in improving the image of manufacturing in the UK and inspire manufacturers to increase competitiveness.

Judging is set to take place throughout August and shortlisted companies will be invited to meet and engage with each of the category judges for the second round of the competition on October 7 at Aston Villa FC. Those shortlisted in the World Class Manufacturing category will receive site visits by an independent industry panel as part of the process.

The winners will be crowned on the evening of our flagship event The Manufacturer Directors’ Conference at The Manufacturer of the Year Awards Ceremony & Gala Dinner on November 27 at The ICC, Birmingham.

A huge thank you to the continued support of our sponsors, and their commitment to encouraging and rewarding achievement within UK industry.
