Flogas shows firms how to boost their bottom line with biomass

Businesses interested to hear how biomass could reduce energy costs, lower carbon emissions and move away from a costly dependence on fossil fuels are invited to attend a free event at Cranfield University.

Following unprecedented interest in a similar event in December, a host of industry specialists will be available on March 16 to explain how biomass can benefit high energy users, and why there’s never been a better time to invest.

Attendees will also be given the chance to meet with the experts individually at a series of 1-2-1 advice clinics, due to be held before and after the main event (08:00-10:00 & 14.30-18:00), and provide a unique chance for businesses to hear first-hand how biomass systems can be tailor-made to meet their exact requirements.

To learn more, and to book your place at this year’s free biomass event (March 16, Cranfield University, Bedfordshire), please email: [email protected], call: 0800 389 0497 or register using the online form.

Visitors on the day will be given a full guided tour of Cranfield University’s own biomass system in action, which was recently installed to future-proof its energy supply and help protect against long-term energy price increases.

The university will be showcasing how it integrated a 950kW Flogas biomass boiler into its existing district heating system, and how it’s now able to deliver 24/7 heating and hot water to 34 campus buildings – all while saving up to 500 tonnes of CO2 each year.

The event will be hosted by Flogas – a leading provider of turnkey biomass energy solutions and fuel supply to the non-domestic sector.

Its head of renewables, Greg Hilton explained: “We had such a strong response the first time round that we’re now planning to host a series of events at various working biomass sites throughout the coming year.

“High energy users up and down the country, across a wide range of industries, are increasingly interested to see and hear how biomass can cut costs and carbon while delivering true energy security for the future.

Hilton continued: “The case for biomass has been enhanced further by the Government’s recent Spending Review, which saw a £1.15bn investment pledge in the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) per year by 2020/21.

“This means the opportunity is particularly strong for those looking for an impressive return on investment and guaranteed long term payments for the renewable heat they generate.”

Biomass well suited to high energy users, particularly those who are off-grid and heavily reliant on costly fossil fuels, and provides an efficient, cost-effective and sustainable energy supply for businesses.

A direct replacement for oil and gas, it can be used as and when needed, and can be integrated as part of a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) solution, a district heating system or alongside other renewable technologies.

However complex your project, biomass heating systems can be tailored to meet your business’s exact needs, for the best outputs, savings and returns.
