High Force Research conjures up rapid growth

North East-based chemical research and development company, High Force Research is doubling the size of its laboratory in Teesside only months after acquiring the space.

Located in the heart of the North East chemical industry, High Force Research opened its new 1,018 sq ft laboratory at the Wilton Centre in February of this year after its existing Bowburn laboratory and office space became full to capacity.

The new fully equipped laboratory at Redcar’s 75-acre business and science hub was the natural choice for further expansion following a period of ongoing business growth. The new laboratory space, including advanced research facilities custom designed for chemical development, will double the company’s presence at the site.

The Manufacturer’s Annual Leaders Conference

This year, the nation’s biggest manufacturing-led event focuses on Industry 4.0 – the technology-driven digitisation of manufacturing processes, from design and engineer, to manufacture and service.

TMALC 2016 sets the stage to answer all of UK manufacturing’s questions regarding this fundamental shift to the industrial landscape, with experts from across industry providing analysis and commentary on the biggest wave of disruptive innovation since the dawn of robots more than half a century ago.

Research leader at the Wilton Centre, Dr Neil Sim explained: “One of the reasons we decided on the Wilton Centre for our second location was because we knew there was potential to expand, which is really important as our Bowburn site is now full.

“And as we’re in the process of recruiting more chemists to join our existing team based at the Wilton Centre, it was the ideal time to look at expanding further.”

“The new laboratory space has proved to be an ideal setting and features research facilities custom designed for chemical development. There are more than 60 other companies here at the Wilton Centre and we are already finding there are lots of networking and collaboration possibilities with other research-orientated businesses based in the area too.”

As well as fully furnished laboratory space and a technical development area, the Wilton Centre is located close to Middlesbrough which is at the heart of the North East chemical industry and home to chemicals companies including Huntsman, Chemoxy, Fine Organics, and Banner Chemicals Group.

Founded in 1988, High Force Research is an independent company that supports medical and scientific research advances. The company is a specialist in developing and scaling up complex syntheses of molecules used by researchers in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostics and chemical sectors.
