James Briggs, manufacturer of aerosol and consumer chemicals, has continued to expand its international reach after securing a company-first distribution deal in Ireland.

The Oldham-based manufacturer has reached an agreement with Team P. R. Reilly, Ireland’s largest distributor of motor parts and car accessories, to bring James Briggs’ own brand car paint range – Hycote – to the country’s automotive market.

Backed by private equity investor, Endless LLP, James Briggs is currently undergoing significant contractual expansion in Europe, and this deal sees the business enter the Irish market for the first time.

Commenting on the announcement, James Briggs commercial director, Max Bass said: “James Briggs has enjoyed exceptional growth since its management buyout two years ago and much of this has been through new distribution channels.

“We’re extremely pleased to enter the market in Ireland for the first time and it’s our expectation that this partnership, with the territory’s leading distributor, will prove long-lasting and fruitful.”

Norbert Reilly, MD at Team P. R. Reilly, added: “As Ireland’s most established link to the automotive sector, we continuously look to improve our customer offering and introduce exciting products to the market.

“Hycote has established itself as the ‘go to’ name for the automotive paint and aftercare market over the last 30 years, so we’re extremely pleased that we’re now able to import this market-leading product for our customers to enjoy.”
