Previously, MD of the diversified industrial giant’s UK operations, Juergen Maier has been made CEO of Siemens plc.
Mr Maier’s new appointment will be effective as of July 1 and will see him step into the shoes of Roland Aurich who is retiring after 28 years of service with Siemens.
Maier has become a well-known face in the industrial community in recent years thanks to his strong engagement in a wide range of conferences, schools engagement programmes and government initiatives.
He is particularly active in the skills arena and has championed the growth of advanced and higher apprenticeships in the UK. He is a board member of the industry skills organisation Semta.
On accepting his new job, Maier said he was delighted. “The UK is a core market for Siemens, and we must continue to work in partnership with businesses and government to make the most of the economic recovery. I look forward to shaping our business to meet new domestic and global economic challenges.”
Professor Siegfried Russwurm, a board member at Siemens AG congratulated Maier and tanked Mr Aurich for his significant contribution the to Siemens globally.
Siemens is a proud member of the Automation Advisory Board.

Before 2008, when Maier was made MD of Siemens UK, he held a number of senior positions within Siemens in the UK and Germany including two Divisional Managing Director roles and Manufacturing Director of the award winning Drives factory in Congleton, Cheshire.
Born 1964 in Germany with Austrian nationality, Juergen came to the UK in 1974.
