Nestlé has pledged a further $1bn to expand its manufacturing operations in Mexico between 2028 and 2030, doubling its planned investment in the country to $2bn over six years.
The Swiss food and beverage manufacturer said the latest investment would strengthen production capacity, modernise facilities, introduce new technologies and support more efficient and sustainable manufacturing processes.
The commitment builds on a $1bn investment announced in January 2025 for the period through to 2027. Projects under that programme include expanding production capacity at the company’s Maggi factory in the State of Mexico and its Nescafé facility in Veracruz, alongside a Purina Experience Centre in Guanajuato.
Strengthening local supply chains
Alongside factory investment, Nestlé plans to increase its focus on domestic agricultural sourcing and strengthen local supply chains by securing raw materials and ingredients from Mexican producers.
Its Nescafé Plan supports sustainable and regenerative coffee farming. The initiative has trained more than 16,000 farmers, distributed over 72 million seedlings and provided ongoing agricultural support to more than 2,000 producers.
This new phase reflects our confidence in the country’s potential and our commitment to continue growing alongside Mexico.
Fausto Costa, CEO of Nestlé Mexico
He added that the company wanted to strengthen production capabilities, support Mexican agriculture and create opportunities through a more competitive and sustainable value chain.
The investment reinforces Mexico’s position as a key manufacturing market for Nestlé, with the company continuing to develop its production facilities and supplier network to support future growth.
Nestlé has not yet disclosed how the new funding will be allocated between individual factories or projects, or confirmed specific production capacity increases or job creation targets for the 2028–2030 period.
